Volunteer with us and make a difference

What it means to us

Volunteering with the Andrew Simpson Foundation isn’t just about giving your time, it’s about creating real change. By supporting our work, you help ensure that people of all backgrounds can access the water, develop confidence, learn new skills, and discover the joy of sailing. Whether you’re on the water, behind the scenes, or supporting events, your contribution helps us deliver meaningful opportunities that change lives.

Why volunteer?

Every volunteer helps us extend our reach and impact. Your time means more people can benefit from the calming, confidence-building power of green and blue spaces. From supporting young sailors in their first session to helping organise fundraising events, your involvement directly contributes to the wellbeing, education, and future opportunities of others.

Types of volunteering roles

There are many ways to get involved, whether on the water or behind the scenes, our volunteering roles offer something for everyone looking to make a difference.

Watersports assistant

Support instructors and participants during sailing or paddle sessions. Help set up equipment, support on the slipway, and encourage new sailors.

Event support

Assist with the planning and delivery of community events, regattas, and fundraising activities like Bart’s Bash. Roles vary from stewarding to logistics and participant support.

Mentorship Roles

Work one-on-one or in small groups to mentor young people, build confidence, and support their development, on and off the water.

Administration & fundraising

Help us behind the scenes with admin tasks, fundraising outreach, or digital communications. Ideal for those who want to use their office or organisational skills to make an impact.

Centre maintenance support

Support the upkeep of our sites by helping with small repairs, painting, equipment care, and general maintenance.
