Our action & impact

Building connected communities

Bringing people together, supporting families and creating places where everyone feels welcome.

Somewhere to belong

Belonging starts with having somewhere to go, familiar faces to meet and activities to share.

Through our centres, programmes and local partnerships, we create opportunities for people to connect through shared experiences on and around the water. We work to make these opportunities welcoming and accessible, recognising that everyone faces different barriers to taking part. Our ambition is to help people build lasting relationships, feel part of their community and find ways to contribute.

Our community programmes & partnerships

Welcoming more people

We work with schools, families and local organisations to understand barriers to participation and help more people access watersports and outdoor activities.

Bringing people together

Our centres, clubs and activities give people opportunities to meet, share experiences and build friendships that grow over time.

Connecting local communities

We work with schools, charities, community groups and local authorities to connect people with opportunities, support and resources in their area.

Supporting service families

We create opportunities for serving personnel, their families and civilian communities to meet, take part together and build stronger local connections.

Connected communities

Working with local partners, we are developing ways to connect people with welcoming places, activities, organisations and support in their community.

Growing community involvement

We encourage people to contribute their time, skills and ideas, from welcoming new families to volunteering, supporting events and mentoring others.

Connected Communities

We are exploring how local facilities, activities and partnerships can work together to create more connected communities.

By linking people with welcoming places, opportunities and support, we want to make it easier for families to get involved, build relationships and feel part of local life.

What we want to achieve

We want more people to feel welcome, build meaningful relationships and find a place in their local community.

Our focus is on reaching people who face barriers to participation, helping families access activities and strengthening connections between local organisations.

We also want to create more opportunities for people to shape their communities and contribute as their confidence and relationships grow.

Target 1: More people feeling welcome and included

Reach people who face barriers to participation and improve access to activities and community opportunities.

Target 2: Stronger connections between people

Create more opportunities for families and individuals to meet, build friendships and develop a lasting sense of belonging.

Target 3: Better connected local organisations

Strengthen partnerships that help people discover activities, facilities and support within their communities.

Target 4: Greater community involvement

Create more opportunities for people to contribute ideas, volunteer, mentor others and help shape local activities.

Build stronger local communities

We work with schools, charities, community groups, local authorities and organisations supporting Service families to create opportunities for people to connect.
