‘Thrilling Adventure’ for Reading School pupils harnesses adaptability
Opening up new possibilities through sailing. At our Andrew Simpson Centre in Reading, children from English Martyrs Catholic Primary School are taking to the water through our Aiming High Community Sailing Programme.

Designed for children aged 6–13 with special educational needs, this weekly club, part-funded by BBC Children in Need, creates a safe and exciting space where participants can build confidence, resilience, and independence through outdoor learning. Many of the children involved would not usually have the chance to experience watersports, making these sessions an important and inclusive step forward.

“These sessions are such a thrilling adventure for our children and they always return to school full of stories and enthusiasm. Children that are normally very anxious are surprising us with their sudden adaptability. They can’t wait to come back each week”

Louise Sullivan, SENCO, English Martyrs Catholic School, Reading
