The Andrew Simpson Foundation Performance Academy exists to provide world class sailing and windsurfing coaching, training and event support, helping athletes progress to the next stage of their performance journey.

Over the last few years, the Academy has grown significantly, expanding from a small number of coaching programmes into a nationally recognised performance environment delivering coaching across multiple classes, locations and partnerships.

Today, the Academy delivers programmes across ILCA, IQFoil, WaveMakers, the Athena Foiling Pathway, World Sailing projects and a number of emerging initiatives, with further growth planned over the coming years.

As the Academy has grown, so have the demands on the coaching team.

We’re introducing a dedicated Youth Head Coach to provide leadership across our expanding youth programmes, allowing us to continue delivering outstanding coaching while creating greater capacity across the wider Performance Academy.

This is more than a coaching role. It’s an opportunity to lead programmes, influence athlete development and play a key role in shaping the future of one of the UK’s leading performance sailing environments.

The Youth Head Coach will lead the Academy’s youth performance programmes, taking ownership of programme planning, coaching delivery, athlete development and event support.

Working closely with the wider coaching team, the successful candidate will help create an environment where young sailors can develop the skills, confidence and mindset needed to progress through the performance pathway.

The role combines outstanding coaching with programme leadership and offers the opportunity to work with motivated athletes, experienced coaches and a supportive team committed to continuous improvement.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong ILCA coaching background and a genuine passion for developing young performance sailors.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys leading programmes, building relationships with athletes and parents, and creating coaching environments where young sailors can thrive.

Whilst our primary focus is an experienced ILCA coach, we’d also be interested in hearing from exceptional coaches from other high performance classes, particularly WASZP, if they bring the right experience, coaching philosophy and athlete development mindset.

Ultimately, we’re looking for the right person rather than simply the right class background.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience coaching performance sailors.
• Understands long term athlete development.
• Can lead programmes as well as coach on the water.
• Enjoys working closely with athletes, parents and coaches.
• Is organised, proactive and collaborative.
• Wants to contribute to the continued growth of the Performance Academy.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Based in WPNSA, Portland (With occasional national and international travel)
Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
Reporting to: Performance Academy Manager
