We’re hiring for a qualified Management Accountant
We are looking for an experienced qualified management accountant to join our team.

An ideal candidate is someone experienced with Financial Planning and Analysis processes and can add value through data analysis, insight and effective communication with stakeholders. You will need to be resilient and able to adapt to a changing environment.

The Andrew Simpson Foundation (ASF) is the UK’s leading sailing and watersports charity. We work with communities, schools, clubs, and delivery partners to ensure everyone can experience the benefits of being on the water.

The role

You will have the overall responsibility to deliver timely analysis of the ASF financial performance in absolute terms, against prior years and budget/reforecasts, providing recommendations to facilitate improvements. Working closely and collaboratively with the financial accountant and the wider finance team.

Key responsibilities

  • Carrying out monthly trends / variance analysis covering the P&L, balance sheets and funds flow.
  • Take a lead role in the budget and 3-year plan process working closely with the senior management and the Financial Accountant.
  • Provide a quarterly forecast, reviewing salesforce data with senior management and finance team.
  • Proactively support the COO, Head Office and Centre managers to discuss actions and re-forecast where needed following regular salesforce data analysis maximising sales opportunities whilst reviewing staffing levels and costs.
  • Prepare meaningful reports for senior management meetings and for board/Trustees’ meetings in conjunction with the Group CEO.
  • Work with the CEO and management team on scenario planning and cash flow forecasting.
  • Assist with financial modelling of new activities and ventures.
  • Assist with due diligence on proposed activities.

Person Specification

  • Educated to degree level and / or an equivalent professional qualification – Full Qualification CIMA, ACA, ACCA and be an expert user of Excel and the Xero Accountancy or other systems.
  • At least 2–3-year experience in a similar role, preferably within an SME across multiple operations and distributed teams.
  • Be self-motivated and have a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Have developed excellent interpersonal skills to build close working relationships with stakeholders and be able to help non-finance stakeholders understand their performance and consequent actions.
